ELGi Launches Demand=Match System for Energy-Efficient Compressors

Elgi Equipments introduces Demand=Match, an innovative system that delivers VFD-like energy savings with the simplicity of fixed-speed compressors. The technology automatically adjusts compressor output to real-time plant demand, reducing energy use, wear, and operating costs.
Elgi Equipments, a global leader in air compressor manufacturing, today unveiled its Demand=Match system, designed to optimize fixed-speed compressors under fluctuating demand. By smartly recirculating airflow within the compressor, the system ensures that delivery always matches plant requirements, achieving energy efficiency comparable to Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) systems without complex controls.
In most industrial plants, air demand fluctuates constantly. Fixed-speed compressors cycle between cut-in and cut-out bands, leading to:
  • Energy losses
  • Pressure overshoots
  • Frequent cycling and mechanical stress
These inefficiencies increase operating costs and reduce equipment lifespan.
The Solution: Demand=Match System
ELGi’s Demand=Match automatically adjusts delivery to real-time demand, eliminating unnecessary cycling and maintaining stable pressure. This ensures efficient, reliable, and cost-effective compressor operation.

Key Benefits:
  • Energy Savings: Up to 17 per cent reduction in typical operating profiles.
  • Improved Reliability: Reduced cut-in/cut-out cycles minimize wear and mechanical stress.
  • Cost Efficiency: Capital-light implementation keeps equipment “lifetime young.”
  • Sustainability: Lower energy consumption reduces CO₂ emissions.
  • Extended Warranty: Up to 10 years airend warranty on EG series and 5 years on EQ series.
Dr Jairam Varadaraj, Managing Director, Elgi Equipments, said, “Compressed air is the fourth utility in factories, yet demand is never constant. Demand=Match adds intelligence to fixed-speed compressors, delivering exactly what the plant needs without heavy investment.”
Dr K Venu Madhav, Executive President – Product Excellence & Innovation, added, “The system continuously monitors pressure and modulates airflow via smart recirculation, ensuring smooth operation, lower energy use, and improved uptime.”
The Demand=Match system supports ELGi’s strategy to provide value-driven solutions that lower total cost of ownership. It is suitable for industries including textiles, automotive, pharmaceuticals, food & beverage, electronics, and general engineering.
The system is available in India as a factory-fit on EG and EQ series compressors. For regional availability, pricing, and retrofit options, customers can contact their local ELGi representatives.
