Seventeen countries join hands to promote green buildings
Ar Tai Lee Siang, Chair, World Green Building Council, said, while we are working on the concept of green, we should do good to the society by focusing on social and economic aspects. Dr Mangu Singh, Managing Director, DMRC, highlighted the activities and initiatives of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) in developing green norms for the metro stations. He added that DMRC is uniquely positioned to work with other Metros on green initiatives.
Dr Prem C Jain, Chairman, IGBC, highlighted that IGBC has reached a unique milestone of facilitating 4.45 billion sq ft of green buildings in India. This has the potential to reduce the GHG emissions of the country by 3 per cent. He also added that, IGBC aspires to facilitate 10 billion sq ft of green building footprint by 2022 in India.
APN is a strong network of 17 countries in the region and works closely with the stakeholders in identifying new growth opportunities which in turn will facilitate the adoption and promotion of green buildings across the globe.

Recently, the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), part of CII, hosted the Asia Pacific Regional Network Meeting 2016 on the sidelines of Green Building Congress being held in Mumbai. The APN meeting comprising of 17 councils has been held for the first time in India.
