Iconic Amaravati Govt Complex with 5 Towers to Rise on 32 Acres

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to relaunch the construction works for the capital city of Amaravati on May 2. As part of the initiative, five towers will be developed in the Integrated Amaravati Government Complex located at Palavagu.

These towers, designed by the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA), will accommodate the General Administration Department (GAD), the Andhra Pradesh State Secretariat, and the Head of Department (HoD) offices.

The APCRDA has already floated tenders in three separate packages for the construction of the towers. According to the estimates, the GAD tower alone will cost Rs 8.44 billion. Towers 1 and 2 are expected to cost Rs 14.23 billion, while the estimated cost for towers 3 and 4 is Rs 12.47 billion.

The towers are planned in a way that allows the HoD offices and the Secretariat—comprising around 145 departments—to function efficiently under one roof. They will feature ample office space, a range of modern amenities, and basement parking facilities.

The proposed buildings for the Secretariat and HoD offices will include work chambers, open office areas, conference rooms, podiums, and shared amenities for the staff.

As per the documents shared by the APCRDA, four of the towers will include a Basement, Ground floor, and 39 upper floors. The tallest of the five, the GAD tower on the southwest end, will rise to Basement + Ground + 49 floors. The entire project will span 32 acres. Each floor will have a built-up area of 2,209 square metres, with a usable floor space of 1,200 square metres. In total, the towers will offer a combined built-up area of approximately 4.85 lakh square metres.

Basement parking across the towers is expected to cover an area of nearly 1.05 lakh square metres. The full layout of the building structures will extend 900 metres in length and 139 metres in width, distributed evenly on both sides of Palavagu.
