Mysuru's PNG Project Connects 1,770 Homes, Advancing City Modernisation

The Piped Natural Gas (PNG) project in Mysuru, launched in July 2022, has gained momentum, with pipeline works now being carried out in key areas of the city. As of now, 1,770 homes have been successfully connected to the system. With ongoing pipeline installations in several areas, residents are eagerly awaiting PNG connections, which are expected to reduce their monthly fuel expenses.

Though the first phase of the PNG scheme was originally slated for completion by Dasara 2022, the project faced delays due to bureaucratic hurdles. However, work has resumed in core residential areas, providing hope for further progress.

Residents view PNG as an essential feature of a modern city. "We've been waiting for two years for PNG connections due to its numerous advantages," said Prasad Kumar, a resident of Chamundipuram. "There's finally visible progress in areas like Chamundipuram, though initial delays had caused some skepticism."

Sanjit Suman, Deputy Regional Head of AG&P Pratham, which is implementing the PNG project, stated that work is underway in the industrial area and along the outer ring road. "Pipeline works in the core areas, including Ramakrishna Nagar, Kuvempunagar, and Dattagalli, started in September and are progressing in phases," he explained.

While the city’s residents are benefiting from the project, those living on the outskirts are urging for PNG connections. "People in the outskirts are particularly eager for PNG, as LPG cylinders are more expensive there. Everyone is waiting for connections," said Sarajoa H Rao from K Hemmanahalli.
