Survey for Third Mumbai Development to Begin in Early 2025

The development of the Karnala-Sai-Chirner New Town (KSC New Town), also known as "Third Mumbai," is set to progress with surveys commencing in 2025. Situated in Raigad, the project aims to enhance connectivity, reduce travel time between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, and establish a hub for technology and data centres. Notably, 65% of the nation’s data centres are projected to be housed in this area. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has invited private firms to conduct aerial surveys and ground studies across 124 villages, covering 323.44 sq km. Nearly half of the surveyed area comprises hills, forests, and agricultural land. The surveys will employ drone-based assessments, LiDAR technology, and other advanced methodologies. A consultant will be appointed to oversee aerial surveys, ground verification, and the collection of land ownership data, culminating in the creation of a GIS-based map. Additionally, a private firm will be engaged to draft a vision document, master plan, and detailed development strategy for KSC New Town, with the master plan expected by August 2026. Initial surveys are anticipated to take six to eight months. The project is a key component of Maharashtra's plan to elevate the Mumbai Metropolitan Region’s GDP to $300 billion by 2029, aligning with NITI Aayog’s vision for India's growth. The MMRDA's collaboration with the World Economic Forum, formalised through a September MoU, underscores the region's economic ambitions. The foundation for Third Mumbai was initially laid out in 2013, with this development marking a significant step forward. (Hindustan Times)

Elevated floors!

Raised access flooring, also called false flooring, is a less common interiors feature than false ceilings, but it has as many uses – if not more.A raised floor is a modular panel installed above the structural floor.
