Telangana govt to build 2 million Indiramma houses in four years

Telangana’s revenue and housing minister, Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, announced that the government will sanction 3,500 to 4,000 Indiramma housing units in each of the 119 assembly constituencies by the end of October, marking the first phase of a large-scale housing initiative.

The state aims to provide 2 millionIndiramma houses to all eligible poor families over the next four years, ensuring no discrimination based on caste, creed, region, or political affiliation. Speaking at a program where beneficiaries in Goshamahal constituency received possession documents for double-bedroom homes, Reddy reiterated the government's commitment to fulfilling its housing promises.

Highlighting financial challenges, Reddy noted that despite inheriting over Rs 7 trillion in debt and Rs 400 billion in unpaid bills from the previous BRS government, the current Congress-led administration under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka is working to deliver on election promises.

Additionally, Reddy shared that the Union housing joint secretary recently visited Hyderabad, and the state has requested additional central funding under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana to accelerate the project. Transport and BC welfare minister Ponnam Prabhakar criticized the BRS government for failing to deliver on its pledge to provide 2-BHK units to the homeless but affirmed that the Congress government remains focused on fulfilling its housing commitments step by step.
