Govt completes 517 JNNURM projects

In its annual report card, the UPA government said it completed 517 projects under JNNURM, including 231 projects under Urban Infrastructure Development Scheme for Small and Medium Towns (UIDSSMT).

The government listed these projects under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) and expansion of metro network in various cities as achievements during the year.

During 2012-13, the government cleared Rs 3,342.78 crore worth metro rail network expansion projects covering 19,717 kilometre.

The government approved metro networks in Jaipur and Kochi. Besides, work for metro projects and expansion of existing networks is going on in Delhi, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata.

The report also mentioned that against the sanction of 15,260 modern buses enabled with Intelligent Transport System in 61 cities, 14,000 had been delivered.
