CM Yogi Adityanath announces new Waterway Development Authority in UP

On Wednesday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath made an announcement regarding the establishment of a new authority tasked with exploring opportunities for developing waterways in Uttar Pradesh. The primary objective of this authority will be to devise policies that offer affordable transportation options, thereby giving a significant boost to micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the state.

During a program held to release the initial installment of Rs 16.89 crore for the development of private industrial parks in Aligarh, Saharanpur, and Kanpur Dehat under the Promoting Leadership and Enterprise for Development and Growth Engine (PLEDGE) scheme, Yogi Adityanath addressed the audience. He presented three cheques for the development of these private parks.

Yogi Adityanath highlighted the successful implementation of Uttar Pradesh's first waterway from Varanasi to Haldia and urged the newly established authority to conduct a survey and carry out its work accordingly.

Additionally, he urged the MSME department to establish two institutes in Saharanpur and Aligarh to support entrepreneurs. The Saharanpur institute would focus on providing local entrepreneurs with world-class designs for wooden products, while the institute in Aligarh would aid those setting up units in the defence corridor node.

The chief minister criticized the previous Samajwadi Party government for lacking the vision to connect different regions and cities within the state. He contrasted this with his government's achievements, such as the completion of the Yamuna Expressway and the nearing completion of the Agra-Lucknow Expressway since assuming office in 2017. Yogi Adityanath emphasized the need for concrete plans to connect eastern Uttar Pradesh with the western part of the state and its major cities.

Furthermore, he underscored the unlimited potential of Uttar Pradesh, stating that the state government had showcased this to the nation through the formulation of new schemes. Schemes like One District One Product and Vishwakarma Shram Yojana, pioneered by Uttar Pradesh, have been adopted by the central government as well.

Yogi Adityanath reiterated that the state government had received investment proposals worth Rs 35 lakh crore at the Global Investors Summit-2023 held in Lucknow from February 10 to 12. He expressed confidence that the implementation of these investments would create one crore jobs. The chief minister emphasized that MSMEs would provide a strong foundation for large industries being established in the state.
