DCPC Hosts Job Fair With All India Plastics Manufacturers Association

The Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals (DCPC) organised a job fair in collaboration with the All India Plastics Manufacturers Association (AIPMA) at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi. The DCPC secretary, Nivedita Shukla Verma, conveyed that the department is committed to supporting organisations that facilitate job opportunities and skill upgradation for youths. She assured that the department would extend all possible help to AIPMA representatives for such constructive activities. The event formed part of broader efforts to strengthen links between industry and potential employees.

The Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering and Technology (CIPET) on behalf of the department has been placing special emphasis on skill development and modulating teaching methodologies to hone young talent according to industry needs. The department reiterated support for initiatives such as Rozgar Melas and skill development programmes to improve employability. Officials noted that various international companies recruit students and that there is a critical need to upgrade skills and qualifications to keep pace with changing industry demands.

The inaugural ceremony was led by the DCPC secretary as chief guest and was attended by senior officials including the joint secretary for petrochemicals, the director general of CIPET and the joint secretary from the Ministry of MSME alongside industry representatives. The job fair highlighted the employment potential of the plastics industry and emphasised the importance of skilling and upskilling while showcasing AIPMA’s role in strengthening industry–academia collaboration. More than 30 international and national companies participated, making the event one of the biggest job fairs in the plastic sector.

The DCPC collaboration with AIPMA, supported by CIPET, was designed to connect employers with suitably trained youth and to guide curriculum adjustments that reflect current industry requirements. Organisers described the fair as a platform to accelerate placements and encourage continuous skill enhancement across the plastics value chain. The department indicated it will continue to support similar programmes to bolster employment opportunities in the sector.
