Dreamfly Innovations To Build Aviation Battery Plant In Bengaluru

Dreamfly Innovations will establish an aviation battery manufacturing facility in North Bengaluru covering 40,000 square feet with an investment of Rs 400 million (Rs 400 mn). The announcement noted that the plant will focus on advanced battery technologies for aviation and unmanned aerial vehicles. The company identified the site as a strategic addition to local manufacturing capacity. The company said the plant will integrate testing and quality assurance processes to meet aviation standards.

The facility will have an initial annual production capacity of 100 megawatt hour (MWh), scalable to 200 MWh to meet rising demand. Production capability was described as modular to allow phased expansion and to accommodate varying battery chemistries. The company indicated that the plant design will support both research and commercial production. It noted that scalable capacity will allow supply to both prototype programmes and larger commercial orders.

The co-founder and chief executive Kajal Shah said the move is intended to bolster domestic battery development as the drone economy in India grows and to provide supply chain support for local drone manufacturers. The investment was reiterated as Rs 400 mn for the plant. Company materials framed the facility as a means to reduce reliance on imports and to accelerate product development cycles. The company also highlighted the strategic importance of building local supply chains for critical components.

The upcoming facility will manufacture batteries for a wide range of drone applications including defence, surveillance, inspection, agricultural spraying and logistics as well as for emerging air mobility platforms such as air taxis. Officials indicated that a domestic source of aviation batteries can support both civil and defence procurement and enable faster deployment of unmanned systems. The project was presented as aligning with national priorities to strengthen indigenous manufacturing capabilities. Officials suggested that closer domestic production can shorten lead times for operators deploying unmanned systems across sectors.
