Emirates SkyCargo to Expand Keralam Operations and Boost Exports

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 15 (PTI) — Emirates SkyCargo representatives met Keralam Industries Minister P K Kunhalikutty to discuss expanding the cargo carrier’s operations in the state and identifying new business opportunities. The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation and increasing exports from Keralam through existing industrial channels.

Kunhalikutty said in a social media post that Emirates SkyCargo, the cargo division of aviation group Emirates, was already operating in collaboration with the Kerala State Industrial Enterprises (KSIE) under the Industries Department. The meeting was intended to build on that arrangement and examine ways to broaden the partnership.

The delegation was led by Emirates SkyCargo India Head Amir Al Zarouni and included Alasia Saeed and Denisa Rivera. The participants discussed the potential for significantly increasing exports from Keralam through KSIE, with a focus on helping products from the state access international markets more quickly.

The minister said the collaboration could support wider commercial opportunities for businesses in Keralam and improve the movement of goods to overseas destinations. He also expressed the expectation that expanded cooperation with Emirates SkyCargo would contribute to growth in the state’s cargo and export sectors.

The engagement comes as Keralam seeks to strengthen links between its industrial enterprises and global logistics networks. Greater air-cargo capacity could assist exporters dealing with time-sensitive products, although the release did not provide details on specific commodities, investment commitments, additional routes or a timeline for expanding operations. No financial terms were disclosed following the meeting.
