GIPCL Issues LoI to Bondada Engineering for 20 MW/120 MWh BESS

Gujarat Industries Power Company (GIPCL) has issued a Letter of Intent (LoI) to Bondada Engineering for a 20 MW/120 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project. Bondada Engineering accepted the LoI on 17 October 2026, the same day the company disclosed the development through a regulatory filing.

The project follows approval from Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam (GUVNL) and an earlier disclosure dated 11 August 2026 concerning the award of the contract to Bondada Engineering. The Hyderabad-based engineering company will undertake the work under the terms set out in the LoI.

The contract includes the design, engineering, supply and procurement of the BESS. It also covers civil and structural works, erection, testing and commissioning, along with operation and maintenance for a period of 10 years.

The system will have a rated capacity of 20 MW/120 MWh at the point of injection and will be located at GIPCL’s 132 kV substation. The project is intended to add battery-based energy storage capacity to the company’s power infrastructure and support its operational requirements.

GIPCL’s latest filing does not specify a commissioning date or provide additional financial details about the project. The disclosure was made under Regulation 30 read with Para B of Part A of Schedule III of the Securities and Exchange Board of India’s Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements Regulations, 2015. The company stated that all other details required under the applicable regulations and the 11 November 2024 circular remain unchanged from its earlier filing.
