Ingersoll Rand Opens New Rs 1.7 Billion Facility in Gujarat

Ingersoll Rand (India) Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Ingersoll Rand Inc. (NYSE: IR), has inaugurated its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Sanand, Gujarat, marking one of its most significant investments in India worth Rs 1.7 billion (?USD 20 million). The new facility reinforces the company’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and regional growth.

In its first phase, the site will produce over 24,000 units annually, with additional phased investments planned. Scheduled to begin production by Q4 FY2025, the Sanand facility will expand Ingersoll Rand’s total capacity by 1.5 times by 2028 and has the scalability to double by 2030. The investment aligns with India’s “Make in India” initiative and will support the company’s export ambitions and commitment to high-quality, energy-efficient manufacturing.

Sunil Khanduja, Managing Director, Ingersoll Rand India, said, “Building on over a century of presence in India, this investment reinforces our commitment to the region, enabling delivery of advanced global technologies tailored for local needs. The facility highlights our focus on sustainable manufacturing, world-class talent, and India’s growing role in global innovation.”

Gareth Topping, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Compression Systems and Services EMEIA, added, “India is one of our fastest-growing markets, and the Sanand facility gives us the scale, flexibility, and technology to serve our customers better.”

Spanning 65,856 sq. m, the facility will initially manufacture centrifugal compressors, gas compressors, refrigeration dryers, nitrogen generators, and reciprocating compressors for industries such as pharmaceuticals, electronics, defence, automotive, and power. Designed for sustainability, it will operate on 100 per cent green power, adopt zero-liquid discharge systems, and achieve net-zero operations within five years.

The facility will also create significant local employment and offer training programmes to develop talent across R&D, testing, and manufacturing, furthering Ingersoll Rand’s purpose of “Making Life Better.”
