Government of India, in partnership with the Government of Maharashtra and NCT of Delhi, and Municipal Corporations of Greater Mumbai and Delhi, have over last few years made several reforms in the process of granting construction permits.

In 2014 the Government of India (GoI) launched an ambitious program of regulatory reforms aimed at making it easier to do business in India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Make in India” campaign focused on attracting foreign investment, boosting manufacturing and improving the country’s overall competitiveness. The government started focusing on Doing Business indicators to show investors India’s commitment to reform. These constant efforts by GoI have paid off as India has taken a significant leap to rank 63rd in Doing Business 2020: World Bank Report as compared to its 130th rank out of 190 countries in 2016.

To gauge user feedback on reforms undertaken for the Ease of Doing Business in India to improve reform implementation the Department for Promotion of Industry and internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, is conducting an exercise. One of the most important regulations out of the 12 regulations affecting the life of a business is dealing with construction permits. So, as a part of this exercise, a questionnaire has been developed to assess the implementation of reforms with regards to obtaining Construction permits in Delhi and Mumbai.

Department for promotion of industry and internal trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry has requested that the questionnaire may be circulated. The feedback is online and they have assured complete confidentiality and usage of the response for the purpose mentioned above. In case any member wishes to anonymise their response, they may skip writing their personal details.

Kindly note that the responses may be submitted least by 5th December 2020.
