Jharkhand Plans IT Park in Ranchi with 20,000 Jobs by 2029

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren said the state government is working to expand modern technology opportunities for young people and develop Ranchi into a major information technology (IT) centre. He made the comments on Monday, 28 September, after meeting RMZ Infra President Deepak Chhabria, whose Bengaluru-based company specialises in commercial spaces and digital infrastructure.

The proposed plan involves developing a state-of-the-art IT Park in Ranchi, with work scheduled to begin by 2029. The first phase is expected to create about 20,000 employment opportunities, while the park’s capacity could rise to about 75,000 opportunities over the following three years, officials said in a statement.

About 100 acres near IIM Ranchi, the new Assembly complex and the high court complex are being considered for the project. The proposed facility would include modern offices, digital infrastructure and other facilities for global technology companies and institutions.

The meeting also focused on establishing a Global Capability Centre (GCC) in the state. Such a centre could support information technology and artificial intelligence (AI) services, digital technology, semiconductor and manufacturing activities, nuclear energy work and other high-skill operations for global companies from Jharkhand.

Soren said the government’s priorities included creating high-skill employment for local youth and attracting investment to the state. He said Jharkhand’s human and natural resources would be connected with modern technology and emerging industrial opportunities as part of the state’s preparation for the new economy.

A delegation from the Department of Information Technology and e-Governance is likely to visit Bengaluru in October on the chief minister’s instructions. It will study the IT Park, technology ecosystem and GCC model developed there, including infrastructure, investment systems and facilities available to industries. The findings will be used to prepare an action plan for Ranchi’s IT Park and the wider technology ecosystem. RMZ Infrastructure has expressed interest in the proposed park, digital infrastructure and future technology opportunities in Jharkhand.
