Labour Ministry, Rapido Partner to Boost Jobs via NCS Portal

The Ministry of Labour & Employment and Rapido signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in New Delhi today, marking a key step in enhancing employment opportunities in the logistics and gig economy through the National Career Service (NCS) portal. The agreement was formalised in the presence of Union Labour Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya and Minister of State Sushri Shobha Karandlaje.

Dr Mandaviya lauded the NCS portal as a dynamic national platform that connects over 17.5 million job seekers with more than 4 million registered employers. He highlighted the platform’s integration with My Bharat, eShram, SIDH, and MEA’s eMigrate portal, reinforcing its position as a hub for employment, skilling, and counselling.

Welcoming the partnership, he praised Rapido’s initiative to create 5 million livelihood opportunities on NCS over the next 1–2 years. The Minister emphasized the portal’s capacity for hyperlocal job matching, both for domestic and overseas placements, and its increasing relevance in India’s labour market.

Minister of State Sushri Shobha Karandlaje expressed satisfaction with Rapido’s commitment to inclusive hiring, especially the creation of 500,000 jobs for women. She congratulated Rapido on its Pink Rapido initiative, which promotes safer and more accessible work environments for women in the gig sector.

Secretary of the Ministry of Labour & Employment noted the evolving nature of job markets and praised the MoU as a progressive move toward inclusive and innovative employment facilitation. She acknowledged Rapido’s contribution to gender inclusivity and digital onboarding.

Rapido Co-founder Mr. Pavan Guntupalli thanked the Ministry and reiterated the company’s focus on scaling gig work, empowering youth and women, and using digital platforms to streamline recruitment. He expressed optimism about the collaboration and its impact.

Key Highlights of the MoU:
  • Verified jobs for bike taxis, autos, and cabs will be posted regularly on the NCS portal.
  • API-based integration will ensure real-time listings and seamless tracking.
  • The partnership will prioritize youth, women, and flexible work seekers.
  • Structured onboarding, digital skilling, and awareness of worker welfare schemes will be promoted.
This collaboration is part of the Ministry’s broader efforts to engage with private sector employers and platforms to bridge the gap between job seekers and available opportunities, reinforcing the government’s goal of a holistic employment ecosystem.
