L&T Wins Major Contract for NAINA Integrated Infrastructure Project

In the recent Town Planning Schemes (TPS) for the Navi Mumbai Airport Influence Notified Area (NAINA), which were approved by the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO), the transportation and infrastructure division of L&T secured a contract for an integrated infrastructure development project. According to the company's filing with the stock exchange, the contract is valued between Rs 25 billion and Rs 50 billion.

CIDCO awarded the project to L&T for the integrated development of 60-metre and 45-metre wide roads, the construction of various major and minor structures, as well as related electrical works. The project includes the development of four approach roads totalling 13.28 km, which will feature nine major structures, including three prominent steel bridges over the Kalundre River and the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, twelve minor bridges, twenty-seven underpasses, and access roads to these structures. Additionally, the project encompasses utility and allied electrical works.

CIDCO recently approved TPS 1 through 12 for the NAINA project and issued tenders accordingly. In March 2024, the planning agency released tenders worth Rs 31.14 billion for TPS 2 to 7, and more recently, tenders amounting to Rs 33 billion for TPS 8 to 12. The infrastructure works related to TPS 1 have already been completed.

As the special planning authority for the NAINA project, CIDCO has finalized all town planning schemes within the designated timeframe. In March 2024, CIDCO issued tenders for various works including road development, drainage, sewage, street lighting, and other infrastructure developments for TPS 2 to 7 in the 94 villages within NAINA. Contractors bidding for these works are required to complete them within three years.
