Maharashtra allocates Rs 60 bn to expedite Pune's ORR Project

The Maharashtra State Government has earmarked a sum of Rs 60 billion for the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) to expedite the land acquisition process for the Outer Ring Road (ORR) Project in Pune. According to a disclosure by an MSRDC official on Saturday, December 16, the allocated funds are expected to be disbursed within the next two months.

The proposed Outer Ring Road (ORR) Project spans 136.8 km and is delineated into eastern and western phases. MSRDC has secured 50% of the land for the western phase and 20% for the eastern phase. The comprehensive estimated cost of the project is INR 15,857 Crore, with the state government planning to disburse INR 11,000 Crore in nine phases specifically for land acquisition. In January 2024, MSRDC is set to release a Request for Proposal (RFP) to appoint a contractor for the project.

Additionally, the state government granted approval for the ORR project in 2015, and it is slated for completion by May 2026, spanning nearly 30 months. The project's primary objective is to alleviate traffic congestion on major interstate and intra-state highways.
