Minister Lays Foundation Stone for Assam Medical Expansion

In a significant boost to healthcare infrastructure in Northeast India, Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, laid the foundation stone for a 37-bed patient care cabin facility at Assam Medical College & Hospital (AMCH), Dibrugarh, on 4 March 2025.

The four-storied facility, developed with an investment of Rs 889 million, will provide advanced medical care and fully furnished patient cabins, addressing the growing demand for affordable, high-quality treatment. The project is being funded by Oil India Limited (OIL) as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.

Strengthening India's Healthcare Landscape Speaking at the event, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal emphasised the transformation of India's healthcare sector under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s leadership:
