MPPGCL Floats 30 MWac Solar EPC Tender for Sanjay Gandhi Plant

MPPGCL has issued a 30 megawatt (MW) alternating current (AC) engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) tender to develop a ground-mounted solar project on vacant land at the Sanjay Gandhi Thermal Power Plant in Birsinghpur, Madhya Pradesh. The scope covers design, supply, erection and commissioning of the complete plant and sets technical and financial criteria for bidders. The procurement reuses thermal plant land to add renewable capacity.

The successful bidder will be required to undertake five years of comprehensive operation and maintenance from the operational acceptance test and to meet performance guarantees and routine upkeep obligations. Bids must be submitted by 14 August 2026 at 1500 hours Indian Standard Time and will remain valid for 270 days from the bid closing date or any extension. The tender aligns bank guarantee and performance security requirements with the validity period.

Financial terms require bidders to include in their quoted prices the full cost of any imported goods, including Customs Duty, countervailing duty and other levies, with no separate financial implication for the company. The tender specifies an earnest money deposit of Rs 10 million (mn) in the form of an on-demand bank guarantee or insurance bond, with the guarantee required to remain valid for 270 days from the date of bid opening. Evaluation will consider total landed cost and compliance with bid security and contractual provisions.

Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company Ltd is identified as the successor to the erstwhile Madhya Pradesh State Electricity Board and is pursuing projects to add, operate and maintain generating units while constructing new capacity to meet growing state demand. The company reports installed thermal capacity of 5,498 megawatt (MW) and hydropower capacity of 921 megawatt. The tender is presented as part of wider efforts to increase generation capacity in the state.
