NueGo electric tourist buses to transform Tamil Nadu travel

GreenCell Mobility's NueGo, an electric tourist bus service, is set to operate on local routes in Tamil Nadu following its registration as the state's first battery-operated passenger vehicle, as mandated by government directives. The Industries department confirmed this development through a social media announcement.

Devndra Chawla, MD and CEO of GreenCell Mobility expressed pride in being the first battery-operated transport vehicle to receive registration, emphasising the role of progressive government policies in fostering a greener and more sustainable transportation future.

NueGo currently serves the Chennai-Tirupati and Chennai-Puducherry routes, with plans for expansion within Tamil Nadu. Positioned as India's inaugural pan-India inter-city electric tourist bus service, NueGo has rapidly established itself as a leading player in sustainable mobility, offering tourists a safer and more environmentally friendly travel option.

These electric buses boast an impressive range of 250 kilometres on a single charge, even with air-conditioning running in traffic conditions. They undergo rigorous safety assessments, including mechanical and electrical inspections.

GreenCell Mobility has received support from Eversource Capital, a climate impact investor, which is an equal joint venture between investment manager Everstone Group and global solar energy projects developer and manager Lightsource bp.
