Praj Matrix Launches Advanced Precision Fermentation Lab

Praj Industries has established an Advanced Precision Fermentation Lab at Praj Matrix to accelerate next-generation biotechnology and support India's transition to high-performance, low-carbon biomanufacturing. The facility was announced on the occasion of the 18th Praj Matrix Foundation Day and is intended to reflect the company's commitment to advancing the national bioeconomy through innovation, skill development and academia-industry collaboration.\n\nThe laboratory is described as a one of a kind global capability focusing on high-capacity, AI-enabled precision fermentation and next-generation bioprocesses to improve efficiency, reduce scale-up risks and enhance process reliability. It is designed to enable Praj and Praj HiPurity Systems to supply advanced fermentation solutions for the pharmaceutical, food, cosmetics, biofuels and beverage sectors.\n\nA Memorandum of Understanding was formalised with BRIC-NCCS in the presence of the Secretary of the Department of Biotechnology, underscoring a model academia-industry partnership. The collaboration is intended to combine BRIC-NCCS strengths in microbial research, genomics and cell culture repositories with Praj Matrix capabilities to integrate discovery, process development and high-purity manufacturing.\n\nThe partnership will focus on accelerating the transition from scientific discovery to scalable biomanufacturing by building advanced bioprocessing capabilities, discovering useful biomolecules and microbial strains and offering hands-on training and internships for PhD scholars. Joint research, sponsorships and long-term collaboration are expected to enhance translational research and workforce development for the sector.\n\nPraj Matrix is presented as the company's innovation backbone with over 90 scientists, multiple specialised laboratories and a robust intellectual property portfolio with over 300 national and international patents. These indigenously developed technologies are scaled by Praj Industries into commercially viable solutions deployed across global markets, supported by more than 1,000 customer references in more than 100 countries across six continents. The initiative is framed as a continuation of collaborative innovation to accelerate India's bio-based economy.
