Sharika Enterprises Secures Order For 998 Communicable FPIs

Sharika Enterprises Limited (Sharika Enterprises) has partnered with Larsen & Toubro Limited (Larsen & Toubro), Chennai, to supply 998 communicable overhead Fault Passage Indicators (FPIs) to Paschimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (PVVNL), Varanasi, under the Government of India’s Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme. The order is intended to strengthen network reliability and automation across the utility’s distribution network. The equipment will be integrated into existing distribution assets to provide enhanced monitoring and control capabilities. The partnership combines Sharika Enterprises’ product expertise with Larsen & Toubro’s engineering and deployment capacity.

The project scope covers design and supply of advanced communicable fault passage indicators that will enable real-time fault detection, faster fault localisation and improved restoration times across PVVNL’s feeders. These intelligent devices are expected to increase network visibility and operational efficiency while reducing outage durations and supporting predictive maintenance practices. Deployment of the FPIs will support PVVNL’s efforts to build a smarter and more resilient power distribution infrastructure for consumers in the region.

The contract represents a further milestone in Sharika Enterprises’ smart grid journey and is said to reinforce the company’s capabilities in delivering monitoring and automation solutions for utilities. The communicable overhead FPI solution is a Make in India product aligned with government priorities to promote indigenous manufacturing and technological self-reliance. The deployment also functions as an import substitute, reducing dependency on foreign technologies while adhering to performance and reliability standards.

Sanjay Verma, executive director at Sharika Enterprises, stated that the company was pleased to secure the order and that the project reflected a continued commitment to deliver advanced indigenous technologies that enhance grid intelligence, reduce outages and accelerate the country’s transition to smart distribution networks. Sharika Enterprises is described as a leading player in the power sector, specialising in transmission and distribution solutions including supervisory control and data acquisition and advanced distribution management systems, substation automation, smart grid technologies and extra high voltage cables. The company emphasises a commitment to innovative, reliable and sustainable solutions for modern digital infrastructure.
