SPML Infra Wins Rs 1.65 bn Order for 400 kV Substation in Kota

SPML Infra Limited (SPML Infra) has secured a contract worth Rs 1.6541 bn (Rs 165.41 Crore) from Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited (RRVPNL) for the construction of a 400 kV grid substation and associated transmission infrastructure at Dahra in Kota, Rajasthan. The company notified regulators that the work is to be executed over an 18 months period and that the award falls within the normal course of business. The filing also noted that additional disclosure under the relevant SEBI circular is not applicable in this instance.

The scope of work covers supply, erection, testing and commissioning of the 400 kV grid substation with one 500 MVA autotransformer bay and one 420 kV 125 MVAR bus-type shunt reactor bay, together with two 400 kV feeder bays and three 400 kV tie bays. The contract includes all associated civil works, automation and communication systems and the integration of high-capacity equipment to support reliable transmission. Engineering, procurement and construction activities will follow the contract terms agreed with RRVPNL.

The managing director conveyed that the order reinforces the company’s growing portfolio in high-capacity substation and transmission projects and complements its battery energy storage systems business. He highlighted that Rajasthan is a major renewable energy producer and that upgrading high-voltage grid infrastructure is essential for reliable evacuation and transmission of both conventional and renewable power across the state. The company stated that the project will strengthen its position in government-funded infrastructure projects across its core verticals.

SPML Infra has over four decades of experience across power, water, environment and technology sectors and has executed more than 700 projects nationwide. The firm has delivered clean drinking water solutions to over 50 million people and provides wastewater treatment, integrated sewerage networks, municipal waste management, power transmission and smart city solutions. The company is ranked 14th among the world’s top 50 private water companies by Global Water Intelligence and is recognised among India’s ten best infrastructure companies.

The contract is expected to enhance the firm’s order book in the power vertical and align with its strategic focus on sustainable infrastructure and high-margin government-funded projects. Work commencement, milestone scheduling and commissioning activities will be governed by the contractual terms agreed with RRVPNL.

This award adds to SPML Infra’s expanding footprint in advanced power substations and transmission and reflects continued demand for upgraded grid infrastructure to support India’s energy transition.
