TRIFED Signs MoUs for Tribal Entrepreneurship

TRIFED has entered into strategic partnerships with Reliance Retail, HCL Foundation, and Torajamelo Indonesia to enhance entrepreneurial opportunities for tribal communities across India. These collaborations aim to integrate tribal businesses into the mainstream economy, providing them with larger market access and capacity-building support.

The Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed on February 19 during the ongoing ‘Aadi Mahotsav’ at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, New Delhi. The agreements were exchanged by TRIFED General Managers with senior representatives from the three organisations in the presence of TRIFED Managing Director Shri Ashish Chatterjee.

Under the MoU with Reliance Retail, TRIFED will supply tribal products in bulk, while Reliance will support branding, promotion, and sustainable sourcing initiatives. The HCL Foundation will focus on capacity-building, training, and expanding the product portfolio for tribal artisans. Meanwhile, the partnership with Torajamelo Indonesia will open new international markets for Indian tribal products, fostering cultural exchange between artisans.

Aadi Mahotsav, TRIFED’s flagship event, is designed to provide tribal artisans direct access to national and international markets. The festival’s theme, “A Celebration of the Spirit of Entrepreneurship, Tribal Craft, Culture, Cuisine, and Commerce,” reflects the essence of tribal life.

The festival was inaugurated by Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, in the presence of Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Shri Jual Oram, Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Shri Durga Das Uikey, and MP Ms. Bansuri Swaraj.

Through these partnerships and initiatives, TRIFED continues to advance its mission of economic empowerment for tribal communities, bringing them closer to mainstream development.
