UP Chief Minister To Inaugurate Kalyan Mandapam And Launch Projects

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is scheduled to inaugurate a newly constructed Kalyan Mandapam in Basharatpur, Gorakhpur, on Saturday and to launch development projects valued at Rs 1.3073 billion (bn), officials said. The projects have been undertaken by the Gorakhpur Development Authority and the municipal corporation and encompass civic improvement works across the city. Local officials overseeing the works confirmed the schedule and the arrangements for the ceremonies.

The programme includes the inauguration of 31 completed civic works and the laying of foundation stones for 109 additional projects, alongside several ongoing GDA initiatives. Municipal authorities provided details of the works, which cover a range of urban services and infrastructure upgrades. The combined activity reflects a concentrated effort to accelerate delivery of planned schemes in multiple wards.

The Kalyan Mandapam was constructed by the Gorakhpur Development Authority at a cost of Rs 31 million (mn) from the chief minister's MLA fund and is intended to provide an affordable venue for weddings, engagement ceremonies, mundan functions and other social events for low- and middle-income families. Officials underlined that the facility is designed to reduce event costs for local households and to increase access to community spaces. The venue will include basic parking and sanitation facilities to serve event organisers and guests.

Authorities said the inauguration and foundation stone ceremonies are aimed at demonstrating progress on commitments to urban development and to mobilise further investment in civic amenities. The combined works are designed to enhance service delivery and to provide short-term employment during implementation phases. Local administrators indicated that coordination between the GDA and the municipal corporation will continue to be prioritised.
