Vedanta Aluminium Launches ‘Vedamrit’ Honey FPO in Eastern India

In the first phase, bee boxes have been distributed to more than 500 farmers following capacity-building training programmes. Each honeybee box is expected to generate an additional annual income of approximately Rs 16,000 for participating farmers, offering a stable supplementary livelihood for rural households. The FPO aims to produce 5,000 litres of premium honey by April 2026, with plans to scale up production to 20,000 litres annually. This expansion is projected to generate revenues of around Rs 10 million, ensuring the long-term sustainability of the initiative.

As part of the launch, the company also introduced a structured bilingual training module in Odia and English to enhance farmers’ technical knowledge. A live demonstration of honey production and extraction provided hands-on exposure to modern beekeeping practices, strengthening farmers’ confidence and operational readiness. The initiative seeks to transform rural incomes in Jharsuguda by equipping farmers with scientific beekeeping techniques, modern production methods and assured market linkages.

Vedanta Aluminium plans to expand the FPO to include over 1,500 farmers by FY28, further strengthening rural entrepreneurship and economic resilience in the region.

Vedanta Aluminium has launched Vedamrit Jibika Farmer Producer Company, introducing the brand ‘Vedamrit – 100% Pure Honey’ to strengthen farmer livelihoods while promoting sustainable agriculture and biodiversity. Jan Vishwas Amendment Bill Introduced In Lok Sabha

The Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Jitin Prasada, introduced the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2026 in the Lok Sabha after Union Cabinet approval.
