Vedanta Aluminium Marks Women’s Week with Inclusivity Push

Vedanta Aluminium, India's largest aluminium producer, concluded its Women's Week celebrations with the launch of its first-ever women-operated smelter line at its aluminium plant in Jharsuguda, Odisha. This initiative is part of the company's broader ‘Shakti Se Pragati’ campaign, which aims to empower women as catalysts of transformation within their communities, workplace, and beyond.

Aligned with its goal of achieving a 30% female workforce by 2030, Vedanta Aluminium introduced various programs, including skill development, financial literacy, self-defence training, and the launch of an inclusive employee handbook titled 'Pinkbook.' The company also rolled out personalized-fit uniforms for female employees to enhance comfort and inclusivity.

The Women's Week activities spanned across multiple locations, including:

Lanjigarh, Odisha: A talk by HR leader Aparna Sharma on conflict management and unconscious bias, followed by life stories from female employees.

Jharsuguda, Odisha: Self-defence training, skill development for over 100 terracotta artisans, and engagement programs for school children.

BALCO, Korba, Chhattisgarh: Padmashri Shamshad Begum shared her journey of empowering over 65,000 women. Over 400 employees and partners participated in the celebrations.

Sijimali Mines, Gunpur Village: Provision of machinery for microenterprise development, including chappal making and rice milling, aimed at empowering women entrepreneurs.

Vizag General Cargo Berth (VGCB): Financial literacy sessions and interactive activities for 52 women from Self-Help Groups, promoting economic independence.

Sunil Gupta, Chief Operating Officer (COO), Vedanta Aluminium, emphasized the company’s commitment to gender inclusivity, stating, “Our Women’s Week celebrations are a testament to our commitment to empowering women across all levels. We aim to inspire the incredible women within our organization and communities to thrive in every aspect of life.”
