Jindal Steel & Power unveils 6 MTPA hot strip mill in Odisha

Jindal Steel & Power announced the commissioning of its 6 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) hot strip mill at its steel manufacturing facility in Angul, Odisha. The company stated that the inauguration of the hot strip mill is crucial for its entry into the flat products market.

According to a statement by the company, the mill was commissioned in a record time of 29 months, and the first set of coils was produced by the hot strip mill on January 10. Subsequently, the coils were dispatched on January 15.

The company further mentioned, "The hot strip mill is capable of producing coils that are 1.00 mm thick and 1,680 mm wide. It is equipped with advanced features such as transfer bar cooling, edge heater, coil box, and heat shields, ensuring excellent flatness, uniform mechanical properties, and the production of superior value-added grades."

The offerings of the hot strip mill find applications in various sectors, including automotive, construction, oil, downstream cold rolling, galvanising, and color coating.
