26 Firms Bid for Keshod Airport Redevelopment Contract

Twenty-six companies have submitted bids for the civil construction work at Keshod Airport near Junagadh, Gujarat, after the Airports Authority of India (AAI) opened technical bids. The Rs 3.63 billion redevelopment project aims to upgrade the airport’s infrastructure, including a 6,500 sqm terminal building, expansion of the runway to 2500m x 45m, a new air traffic control (ATC) tower, and an apron capable of handling three A320/B737 narrow-body aircraft.

Phase 1 of the project involves the extension and strengthening of Runway 05/23, construction of a link taxiway, a 701m parallel taxi track (PTT), an apron, an isolation bay, a perimeter road, and an operational boundary wall. AAI had invited tenders for this phase in December 2024, with an estimated cost of Rs 1.61 billion and a 540-day completion timeline.

The technical bids were opened this week, though Varaha Infra’s bid was disqualified due to missing documentation. The remaining contenders include major construction firms like Ashoka Buildcon Ltd., Dineshchandra R Agrawal Infracon Pvt. Ltd., and Iron Triangle Ltd.

The bids are now under technical evaluation, a process expected to take a few months. Once completed, the financial bids of the qualified companies will be opened to determine the lowest bidder and the likely contractor for the project.
