DheyaTech raises Rs 430 million to scale gas turbine technology

Bengaluru-based deep-tech company DheyaTech has raised Rs 430 million in funding led by Avaana Capital, with participation from Unimech Aerospace and Manufacturing Limited, to scale production readiness and testing capabilities for its indigenous small gas turbine technology.

Founded by aerospace engineers with over 15 years of experience at GE Aviation and Rolls-Royce, DheyaTech is developing advanced small gas turbine engines for applications across advanced aerial mobility, energy systems and next-generation power infrastructure.

Small gas turbine engine design and manufacturing remain highly specialised capabilities, with only a limited number of countries possessing indigenous expertise in the technology. DheyaTech aims to build domestic capability in this strategic segment through its range of engines spanning 20 kgf to 400 kgf of thrust.

The company has spent over a decade on research and development and is now moving towards commercial deployment. Flight trials of its engines are targeted for Q4 2026, with confirmed orders from Indian and global original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

The funding will support the expansion of production capabilities, establishment of an integrated testing facility and collaboration with customers to accelerate deployment timelines.

DheyaTech follows a platform-based approach to develop a scalable family of engines catering to multiple thrust requirements and applications. The company has built in-house capabilities across the complete product development cycle, including design, development, manufacturing and testing, along with its proprietary adaptive Engine Control Unit (ECU).

Vikas Verma, Partner, Avaana Capital, said, “The next generation of Indian deep tech companies will not just adapt technologies developed elsewhere; they will build globally relevant platforms from the ground up. DheyaTech represents that shift - building differentiated, mission-critical technology in a sector of strategic importance to India.”

DheyaTech is also the first private company in India to pursue independent airworthiness certification for its gas turbine engines under the guidance of CEMILAC-DRDO. The certification process is aimed at meeting reliability and performance requirements for mission-critical aerospace applications.

Anil Kumar Puthan, Chairman & Managing Director, Unimech Aerospace and Manufacturing Limited, said, “I congratulate the DheyaTech team on this important milestone. Their focus on building reliable gas turbine technology is truly exciting. Unimech continues to be the strategic manufacturing partner for DheyaTech, supporting the company through its precision manufacturing capabilities for gas turbine components and systems.”

The company is also expanding its turbomachinery capabilities for next-generation energy systems, including hydrogen propulsion and power-generation technologies. DheyaTech has developed a hydrogen blower that has received ATEX safety certification and, in collaboration with IISc-Bengaluru, has developed a hydrogen-based flexi-fuel combustor for its 60-kW flexi-fuel turbogenerator.

Gurushankara K C, CEO & Co-Founder, DheyaTech, said, “We have spent the last decade building deep expertise in gas turbine technology with the vision of creating world-class propulsion and energy solutions from India. This funding marks an important step in our journey from technology development to production readiness.”

The company aims to strengthen India’s capabilities in advanced propulsion and energy technologies by combining engineering expertise, certification readiness and scalable manufacturing capabilities.
