Fast Track Immigration Expands to 7 New Airports

Expanding the 'Fast Track Immigration-Trusted Traveller Program' (FTI-TTP), Home Minister Amit Shah will launch the biometric-based immigration service at seven new airports on Thursday. The program, which enables faster immigration for pre-verified flyers through automated e-gates, will now be available at airports in Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Cochin, and Ahmedabad.

FTI-TTP has already been operational at Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi, since June 2024, with officials reporting a 60% reduction in immigration clearance time for enrolled passengers.

"Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the 'Fast Track Immigration-Trusted Traveller Program' is a significant initiative under the 'Viksit Bharat'@2047 vision. Its objective is to provide world-class immigration facilities to travellers, making international travel seamless and secure," the Ministry of Home Affairs stated.

Both Indian citizens and OCI cardholders can avail of this facility free of cost. Shah will inaugurate the service from Ahmedabad, taking the total number of airports covered to eight. Plans are in place to expand FTI-TTP to 21 airports across India.

The program is implemented through an online portal (https://ftittp.mha.gov.in) To enroll, applicants must complete online registration by submitting personal details and required documents. Biometric data can be captured either at the Foreigners Regional Registration Office or during airport transit.

The immigration process involves scanning an airline-issued boarding pass and a passport at the e-gate. Biometrics are authenticated at arrival and departure points, and once verified, the e-gate opens, granting immigration clearance.

This initiative aligns with the government's vision to modernize infrastructure and enhance the travel experience, offering seamless and secure solutions for international travellers.
