Government to Open 12 Airports Under UDAN This Year

The Indian government is set to operationalize 12 airports, including Car Nicobar, under the UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) scheme this year. This ambitious initiative aims to boost regional connectivity and provide affordable air travel to underserved and remote regions across the country.

Under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS), these 12 airports will enhance the accessibility and economic development of the regions they serve. The Ministry of Civil Aviation has identified these locations as part of its efforts to expand the aviation network and ensure that the benefits of air travel reach a wider population.

Car Nicobar, a strategic location in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, is among the airports set to be operationalized. The inclusion of this airport is expected to significantly enhance connectivity in the region, promoting tourism and economic growth. The development of these airports aligns with the government's vision to create a robust aviation infrastructure that supports the overall growth of the country's economy.

The UDAN scheme has been instrumental in making air travel accessible to the common man by providing affordable flights to remote and regional areas. Since its inception, the scheme has successfully connected numerous underserved regions, thereby contributing to the balanced development of the country's aviation sector.

The operationalization of these airports is also expected to create job opportunities and stimulate local economies. Improved connectivity will facilitate the movement of goods and people, fostering regional trade and commerce.

The government's commitment to expanding the aviation network through the UDAN scheme underscores its dedication to enhancing regional connectivity and supporting the growth of the aviation sector. The new airports will play a crucial role in achieving these objectives, ensuring that more people can benefit from the convenience and efficiency of air travel.
