Mahindra to Build H125 Helicopter Fuselage for Airbus

Mahindra Aerostructures Ltd (MASPL) has secured a significant contract from Airbus to manufacture and assemble the main fuselage of its H125 light single-engine helicopter in India. The fuselages will be produced at MASPL’s state-of-the-art facility in Bengaluru, with industrialisation beginning immediately and the first deliveries expected by 2027.
The H125, the world’s best-selling single-engine helicopter, is renowned for its high performance, cost-efficiency, and adaptability. It is used across a wide range of roles, including passenger transport, aerial work, tourism, law enforcement, medical evacuation, and rescue operations.
This announcement follows an earlier 2025 agreement between Airbus and MASPL for the H130 helicopter fuselage. Together, these contracts firmly position India within Airbus Helicopters’ global value chain and underscore the commitment of both companies to the Government of India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.
Anish Shah, Group CEO and Managing Director of the Mahindra Group, stated, “We are delighted to partner with Airbus on its ‘Make in India’ plans. This contract strengthens our long-term partnership and reflects both Mahindra and Airbus’ role in developing India’s aerospace ecosystem.”
Airbus India and South Asia President and Managing Director, Jürgen Westermeier, added, “This significant H125 work package, along with the H130 contract and the ongoing development of the H125 Final Assembly Line (FAL), reinforces our confidence in India as a vital hub for global aerospace manufacturing. We are not just building helicopters here; we are creating an entire ecosystem to support the growth of India’s rotorcraft market.”
While financial details of the contract have not been disclosed, Airbus currently procures aviation components and services worth USD 1.4 billion annually from India. The H125 fuselage programme is expected to further boost domestic aerospace capabilities and contribute to India’s emergence as a global manufacturing hub for next-generation aviation platforms.
