Improvement of around 1,500 bridges has been planned under the Central Government´s Setu Bharatam Scheme for construction, reconstruction or strengthening, as required. The government has established the Indian Bridge Management System (IBMS) for inventorisation and condition survey of all bridges on the national highways.
