With an annual turnover of approximately Rs 1000 crore and with plans to venture into the hospitality sector in Udaipur and Jodhpur, the recent winner of the best capital management award GR Infraprojects is heading to project itself as an upcoming company in India´s infrastructure space.

A true reflection of public association, trust and credibleness GR Infraprojects has been registered with Registrar of Companies, Jaipur, in culmination of registered construction firm of 1965 styled as Gumani Ram Agarwal. It has been registered as a construction agency empanelled by the Public Works Department, Government of Rajasthan under ´AA´ Class and Military Engineering Services, Ministry of Defense, Government of India under ´SS´ Class.Over the years, the infrastructure development company has grown to spread its operations across Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha, Delhi, Meghalaya, Nepal and Nigeria.

The makers
The company is being managed by a group of directors who are experts in the field of road construction. The present board consists of six directors Vinod Kumar Agarwal, Managing Director and the other directors include Mahendra Kumar Agarwal, Ajendra Agarwal, Purshottam Agarwal, Vishal Kumar Gupta (Moti Lal Oswal and IDFC) and Anil Bijayraj Bhandari. The company has more than 2,500 technical and non-technical personnel (as on April 1, 2013) who are engaged in the execution and implementation of various infrastructure projects. Also, at present, more than 200 civil engineers are working with the company.

Projects implemented
With around 12 ongoing projects, GR Infraprojects has implemented and executed a good number of EPC road projects. In the last five years, the company has completed nine road projects and one airport project. Also, under the PPP model, for the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), it recently completed two-laning of Shillong Bypass connecting NH-40 and NH-44 from 61/800 km of NH-40 to 34/850 km of NH-44 in Megahalaya on DBFOT pattern under SARDP-NE on BOT (annuity) basis.

Recent achievements
One of the company´s key achievements, for which NHAI granted a bonus, includes the completion of the Shillong Bypass Project one year ahead of schedule. Further, GR Infraprojects has been recently selected as one of the three final nominees in the ´Capital Management Category´ for the ´Business Today Emerging Companies Excellence Awards´ as well as ´Employment Generation Awards´, which was organised in association with Yes Bank.

Quality assurance
The company maintains quality assurance systems and procedures that emphasize on the importance of obtaining results and effectiveness by following continuous processes and a constant need to improve. The competent personnel monitor measures the process against tests, norms and results. The principles of ISO have also been taken into consideration while developing the Quality Assurance System. The company has all testing apparatus, equipment, machine installations and a qualified personnel to carry out and implement the test to ensure specifications and the quality of work. A sizable material testing laboratory has been maintained for quality control, thereby quality assurance. Preventive measures are adopted during constructions and the quality plan and policy covering the key aspects of the particular project is framed and regularly monitored for compliance during construction. GR Infraprojects assesses and evaluates its projects through a specialised system.

The company has installed its SAP system to monitor and take up day-to-day accounting, financial, management, stock, purchase activities and the situation of online stock at all times.

Plant and machinery
Well equipped with modern construction equipment to execute advanced technological typical engineering projects, GR Infraprojects owns machineries and equipment worth Rs 412 crore (gross block) as on April 1, 2013.

The directors of the company are always keen to explore and own technologically advanced machineries and equipment. They do not hesitate in purchasing or importing advanced machineries. Moreover, the company has its own transportation network with more than 75 tankers to ensure timely supply of bitumen, diesel, etc, and to avoid infiltration. It owns a huge mechanical and automobile workshop at Balicha in Udaipur well spread across a wide area engaging engineers, mechanics and supervisors to take up the required repair and preventive maintenance on-site as well. The company also owns two 200 TPH Marini-Italy hot-mix plants and a future ready plant (as termed). This future ready plant is in the transit stage and is amongst the latest technology driven plants with the provision to use RAP (reclaimed asphalt pavement).

Bitumen emulsion plant unit
GR Infraprojects has an installed and operating bitumen emulsion, polymer modified bitumen, crumb rubber modified bitumen formulation plant of 40 TPH capacity at Bhamashah industrial area in Kaladwas, Udaipur. The plant was imported from Denmark-based ENH, a leading international company in this field. Further, two such plants are already in the process of being commissioned at Panchkula and Guwahati.

Construction of buildings
With a considerable land bank in Rajasthan, particularly Udaipur, GR Infraprojects has about 3,000,000 sq ft for the construction of 1,500 housing units. All the required appro¡vals have already been obtained from the local authority and the projects is expected to be commenced in April 2014. Further, the company has plans to initiate and execute hotel projects in Udaipur and Jodhpur.
