SJVN Signs Power Supply Deals for 1.5 GW Green Projects

State-run SJVN Ltd has signed multiple power purchase agreements to supply over 1,492 MW of renewable energy from its hydroelectric projects in Nepal and Himachal Pradesh, marking a major step in India’s clean energy transition.

The company signed a Power Sale Agreement (PSA) with Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd (UPPCL) for the supply of electricity from its 900 MW Arun-III Hydro Electric Project in Nepal. The cross-border project is being developed in Sankhuwasabha district by SJVN’s wholly owned subsidiary, SJVN Arun-3 Power Development Company (SAPDC), and is expected to be commissioned by FY28.

In addition, SJVN executed PPAs with UPPCL for the 210 MW Luhri Stage-I and the 382 MW Sunni Dam Hydro Electric Project (HEP), both located in Himachal Pradesh. These two domestic projects, also slated for completion by December 2028, will jointly contribute 592 MW to the national grid and generate approximately 2,140 million units of electricity per annum.

SJVN further signed an agreement with New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) for supply of power from the 382 MW Sunni Dam project, expanding the urban renewable energy footprint.

“These agreements reflect our strong commitment to a green energy future and robust urban power infrastructure,” said Bhupender Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director (Additional Charge), SJVN.
