NHAI to build NCR's longest flyover on Dwarka Expressway

Dwarka Expressway is soon going to witness a new high. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has planned to construct a 9-km-long elevated road in a bid to improve the connectivity between the Delhi-Haryana border and the Basai railway-over-bridge. It will improve the connectivity to the area and cut short the travel time for both, the commuters as well as residents in the area.

'This is a positive development. The fast completion of the Dwarka Expressway will improve connectivity and reduce travel time, giving a further boost to New Gurgaon. It will strengthen the connectivity and benefit residents living in this part, starting from Vatika India Next and Vatika Express City to Sector 115,' says Anupam Varshney, Head-Sales and Marketing, Vatika.

The elevated road will come up on the Dwarka expressway, a 9 km stretch from the Delhi-Haryana border to the Basai railway-over-bridge in Sector 100 of Gurgaon. Dwarka Expressway has recently been accorded the National Highway status. The expressway will now have eight-lanes instead of six.

'It will act as an engine of growth for construction, taking in new Gurgaon area and thereby, improving connectivity to the expressway,' says Ravish Kapoor, Director, Elan Group.

'With the construction work at fast pace, the expressway is expected to be completed soon and benefit all the commuters as well as residents in the nearby areas.

It will reduce the travel time to a large extent,' says Vineet Relia, Managing Director, SARE Homes.

The Dwarka Expressway is expected to witness heavy traffic when it opens, more so because Gurgaon's new sectors have been built on either side of it, and the flyovers and underpasses are necessary to avoid gridlocks like the ones that NH-8 currently witnesses.

'Dwarka Expressway is the expressway of the future. This micromarket is bound to emerge as an important real estate hub in the next six to 12 months. The widening of the e-way, combined with the completion of this important stretch, is a welcome development and an important step in making this all important highway fully functional. This will ease access to various sectors and the connectivity gap on the Northern Peripheral Road will also be a thing of the past,' says Pankaj Bansal, Director, M3M Group.

As per NHAI, the Dwarka Expressway will be executed in phases. In the first phase, tenders have been invited for the 10 km road, which will be elevated. The purpose of the elevated road is to separate local traffic from the expressway's long distance traffic.
