Shahdara bridge opening by April 30: Noida Authority

The Noida Authority has announced that the widening of the first of five bridges on Shahdara drain between Film City and Mahamaya Flyover will finally be over by April 30. The project has missed several deadlines in the past. The Authority is working round the clock to ensure that work ends ahead of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's scheduled visit to the Expo Centre in Greater Noida in the first week of May for the annual Asian Development Bank summit.

Almost 85 per cent of the work is over and efforts were on to ensure that the road is ready by April 30. The PM is scheduled to pass through the stretch on his way to ADB summit scheduled between May 2 and May 5, said an official. Commuters travelling to Noida via DND flyway or from east Delhi are caught in major traffic snarls on the stretch between Film City and Mahamaya Flyover as vehicles from Akshardham coming via the eight-lane UP link road are forced to converge on the four-lane stretch.

Vehicles moving from Noida's Sector 18 and Greater Noida towards Delhi or Ghaziabad via NH-24 also add to the chaos. Since the jurisdiction of Shahdara drain is with Delhi government, Noida Authority obtained permission for the work in 2011. Work on the first bridge cost around Rs 19 crore and entailed widening the existing four-lane bridge to an eight-lane one. Each 7.5-metre carriageway is being widened to 30 metres.

Elevated floors!

Raised access flooring, also called false flooring, is a less common interiors feature than false ceilings, but it has as many uses – if not more.A raised floor is a modular panel installed above the structural floor.
