Andhra Pradesh Launches Adavi Thalli Baata 2.0 Road Project

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan launched the Adavi Thalli Baata 2.0 road project on 11 October 2026. The Rs. 20.52 bn initiative will develop 1,976 km of roads to connect 1,341 tribal habitations across the state. Its first phase is planned to provide road access to at least 735 villages.

The project includes 45 bridges, with the roads scheduled to be commissioned by March 2027. At Kakavada village in Rampachodavaram mandal of Polavaram district, K. Pawan Kalyan laid the foundation stone for a 3.4-km road. The road will connect four villages and provide access to about 1,400 tribal families. The initiative is intended to address connectivity challenges in habitations where difficult terrain makes construction more complex.

The programme also covers telecommunications in remote tribal areas. Work is under way to commission 135 cellphone towers, while the Forest Department is examining applications for permission to establish 48 optical fibre cable routes. Araku, Maredumilli and the Nallamala hills are among the regions identified for eco-tourism development, while coffee cultivation remains an important activity in the Araku Valley.

Agricultural and welfare measures form another part of the initiative. The state will distribute 38 varieties of farm implements to 34,000 tribal farmers at a subsidy of 90 per cent, backed by an allocation of Rs. 680 mn. In Rakota village, welfare works valued at Rs. 50 mn were sanctioned for school renovations and medical facilities. The deputy chief minister also assured bamboo craftsmen from the Konda Reddi tribe that efforts would be made to improve market access for their products.

The Kakavada road is located in Rampachodavaram mandal, Polavaram district. The project’s scheduled commissioning deadline is March 2027, with road construction and related connectivity measures being implemented across tribal regions of Andhra Pradesh.

Cement Prices Likely to Rise Rs. 10-15 per Bag from Mid-October

Cement manufacturers in India are likely to raise prices by Rs. 10-15 per bag from mid-October, as they seek to offset persistent increases in power and fuel costs. Emkay Research said its channel checks indicated a high probability of an increase from October 12, supported by the start of the busy construction season and favourable demand-supply conditions. The sector had implemented similar rate adjustments of Rs. 10-15 per bag during the first quarter, but the increases were insufficient to cover higher operating costs. Prices also softened during July and August because of the monsoon, wid..
