Gadkari Launches Rs 20 Billion Highway Projects in Karnataka

Union Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for nine National Highway projects covering 88 kilometres in Sagara town, Shivamogga, Karnataka. The total investment exceeds Rs 20 billion. He was joined by Union Minister Shri Pralhad Joshi, former Karnataka Chief Minister Shri B.S. Yediyurappa, Members of Parliament, MLAs, and senior officials.
A key highlight was the inauguration of the newly built Sharavathi Bridge, which will greatly enhance connectivity between the Malnad and coastal regions. It will also provide improved access to major pilgrimage centres such as the Sigandur Chowdeshwari and Kollur Mookambika temples.
The widening of the 47-kilometre Bidar–Humnabad stretch of NH-367 is expected to significantly reduce travel time between Kalaburagi and Bidar districts. Additionally, restoration of the Shiradi Ghat section of NH-75 will ensure safe and uninterrupted travel during monsoons, especially along the crucial Mangaluru–Bengaluru corridor.
Further connectivity improvements include the construction of a Road Over Bridge (ROB) at Shahabad and a bridge over the Kagina River on NH-50, which will facilitate smoother travel between Kalaburagi and Raichur.
Road safety upgrades on the Bengaluru–Mysuru Access-Controlled Expressway will enable faster, safer, and more efficient travel between Karnataka and Kerala while also reducing journey time and fuel usage.
These developments mark a major step towards strengthening Karnataka’s road infrastructure and improving access across urban, rural, and pilgrimage routes.
