Gujarat govt allocates Rs 22.13 bn for 919 km road network expansion

The Gujarat government has approved Rs 22.13 billion for a 919-km-long road covering 94 stretches from small villages to metro cities. Chief minister Bhupendra Patel has authorised 94 works, including four lanes, 10 metres wide, road strengthening, bridges, bypasses on the state highways connecting ports, industrial centres, metropolises and tourist destinations.

Also, in reference to Parikrama Path Yojana announced in this year's budget, works worth Rs 4.67 billion have been authorised for widening 289.32 km of 37 roads passing through 17 districts to 10 metres. The road and buildings department will carry out the task of this circular path scheme in Kutch, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Dahod, Mahisagar, Anand, Narmada, Surat, Navsari, Valsad, Dang, Bhavnagar as well as Amreli, Gir Somnath, Junagadh, Porbandar and Devbhumi Dwarka districts.

Patel has authorised Rs 2.47 billion for road improvement and road widening of 117.71 km length of eight roads connecting metro cities like Surat, Rajkot and Gandhinagar. He also authorised Rs 660 million works for 16.40 km length of three state highways by using advanced white topping technology to make the roads of the state more sustainable.

Rs 1.46 billion has been authorised for making 177.50 km-long four lanes and 10 metres wide of 10 roads connecting Mundra, Dahej Port and industrial areas like Savli, Jhagadia among others. The government has authorised Rs 1.05 billion for widening the 142.62 km length of 10 roads connecting the tourist circuit of Vadnagar, Pavagadh, Dharoi-Ambaji, Jambughoda, Sasan Gir and Somnath in the state by 10 metres.

The government also authorised Rs 4.45 billion for four-laning of 71.73 km length of three roads passing through Surendranagar, Amreli and Kheda districts under Parikrama Path Yojana. Apart from this, Patel has authorised Rs 4.65 billion for construction of flyover/VUP and pool to develop Mehsana-Palanpur six-lane road as a high-speed corridor.
