Hindon Bridge expected to be completed by April 2026

The completion of the Hindon Bridge, a critical infrastructure project aimed at improving connectivity between Noida and Greater Noida, has been postponed to April 2026. The project involves constructing a road over two kilometers long, which will link the Noida Expressway to Greater Noida’s LG Chowk via the Hindon Bridge. However, the project has encountered major delays due to ongoing land acquisition challenges.

Spanning 290 meters over the Hindon River, the bridge has only reached 30% of its construction progress. Initially launched by the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh in January 2019, the project was intended to be completed within 18 months. However, due to land acquisition issues, especially on the side of the Noida Authority, construction was halted for an extended period.

The Uttar Pradesh State Bridge Corporation (UPSBCL), the body overseeing the bridge’s construction, has officially requested an 18-month extension to finalize the remaining work. The delay also affects the construction of approach roads on both sides of the bridge, which are being developed by the Noida and Greater Noida authorities. These approach roads, each around one kilometre long, are expected to be completed alongside the bridge. Work on the bridge was paused for two and a half years because of the land acquisition issues, but construction resumed in November 2023. The approach roads began earlier this year as part of the project’s revival.

Once completed, the Hindon Bridge is expected to cut travel time between Noida and Greater Noida, along with key locations such as the district collectorate, Surajpur, and Ghaziabad, by approximately 16 kilometres. This improvement is expected to relieve traffic congestion, particularly at Pari Chowk, which is currently a major bottleneck for commuters. The delay highlights the difficulties faced by large-scale infrastructure projects, especially when dealing with land management. Ultimately, the Hindon Bridge is anticipated to significantly enhance regional connectivity and help manage increasing traffic demands in the area.
