HP Minister Orders Completion Of Rohru-Dodra-Kwar Road

Minister inspected the ongoing Rohru-Dodra-Kwar road project in Shimla district and directed officials to ensure work met prescribed quality standards and finished within the stipulated time. He addressed a public meeting in Dodra after the inspection and said the Chidgaon-Dodra-Kwar road would be completed within the stipulated timeframe. He said about Rs 450 million (mn) was being spent on the project and that it would fulfil the region's long-standing road infrastructure needs.

He noted that difficult geography, limited work time and adverse weather had prompted approval to extend the deadline for the remaining work of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana Phase one until March 2027 to ensure completion with the required quality. The minister instructed officials to adhere to standards and complete tasks within the revised schedule. The extension reflected consultations with central authorities and aimed to accommodate constrained working seasons.

The minister said work on the Rohru-Chirgaon road, costing about Rs 200 mn, was underway and would be completed within the stipulated time. He indicated that discussions had been held with the Uttarakhand chief minister regarding the road linking Dodra-Kwar with neighbouring Uttarakhand and that construction on the portion within Himachal Pradesh jurisdiction would be completed soon. Adequate approvals had also been granted for other link roads in the area.

He said about Rs 45 mn had been approved for the Kitarwadi link road, Rs 105 mn for the Jiskun-Jakha road and Rs 40 mn for the Jadkot road, and that work on these projects would commence after completing necessary formalities. The minister directed that procurement and mobilisation be expedited to make the best use of the available working window and weather windows. Officials were instructed to report progress regularly and to maintain transparency in expenditure.
