Mumbai: The coastal road will probably open in parts this year

The municipal organisation may begin gradually activating the coastline road in November 2023. The project's completion would take an additional six months as long as the amended design for widening the space between two pillars close to Worli Koliwada is approved, they added. The increased cost to the BMC would be Rs 6.5 billion. The connector between the coastal road and the Bandra-Worli sea link is still in the early stages and won't be finished before the deadline of November, even though major elements of the bridge are practically at completion.

The design had to change as a result of the removal of one of the plan's pillars. The updated design has not yet obtained approval in its entirety.

The project cannot be finished by the deadline since the material and technique will change depending on the design. The last section of the coastal route, from the Princess Street flyover to Worli, will be finished by November and may even be made accessible to traffic.

Later on, the interchange will be accessible.

In 2016, fishermen from Worli Koliwada protested the narrow space between the coastal road's pillars, citing the challenge for fishing boats to navigate.
