Mumbaikars can expect a quicker journey to Pune within a year because of ongoing construction of a crucial cable-stayed bridge as part of the Rs.66.95 billion missing link project along the Lonavala ghat section. This bridge, with four 182-metre tall pylons, will be a landmark feat, standing against severe wind pressures in Tiger Valley of Lonavala. Once completed, it will reduce travel time by half an hour, benefiting thousands of motorists who commute between Mumbai and Pune daily. The project also includes construction of twin tunnels, recognised by Guinness World Records as the world’s widest, spanning 47 metres over 10 lanes. This project aims to bypass the Khandala ghat section, cutting the distance by over 6 km.
