Land acquisition has begun for the second phase of the Chennai Peripheral Ring Road (CPRR) following completion of the first phase. The CPRR is a 133.64 kilometre greenfield, access-controlled six-lane corridor being implemented at an estimated project cost of Rs 179.58 bn. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) presented Green Highways Excellence Awards recognising best practices in roadside plantation. The Warangal project implementation unit (PIU) of the Hyderabad regional office (RO) secured the first place for median plantation while the Amaravati PIU of the Vijayawada RO took the first prize for avenue plantation. Chennai Bypass To Get New Access Points And Barrier-free Tolling

Motorists along the Chennai bypass will get new entry and exit points at Tiruneermalai and Kallikuppam and barrier-free tolling at Tiruneermalai and Athipattu-Menambedu, in a revamp by the National Highways Authority of India.
