PMC to Enhance 50 km on 9 Roads Under 'Mission 15 Roads'

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has announced plans to enhance a critical 50 km stretch on nine major roads in the city as part of its 'Mission 15 Roads' initiative. This move is aimed at addressing traffic congestion, improving road infrastructure, and ensuring smoother transit across key routes in Pune.

'Mission 15 Roads' is a comprehensive project launched by PMC to revamp some of the city's most congested and deteriorating roads. The current phase focuses on nine essential roads that serve as lifelines for Pune's daily commuters. These roads are vital links connecting various parts of the city, and their improvement is expected to significantly reduce traffic snarls and enhance overall road safety.

The initiative will see the deployment of advanced road construction techniques, including the use of durable materials and modern engineering practices, to ensure that the revamped roads can withstand heavy traffic and weather conditions. The project also includes plans for better road markings, improved drainage systems, and the installation of streetlights to enhance safety during nighttime travel.

The roads identified for this phase include major arteries that experience high traffic volumes, such as Karve Road, Sinhagad Road, and Baner Road. These roads are notorious for their potholes, uneven surfaces, and frequent traffic jams, especially during peak hours. The PMC aims to address these issues comprehensively, ensuring that the roads are not only repaired but also upgraded to meet modern urban infrastructure standards.

PMC Commissioner Vikram Kumar stated that the project is a crucial step toward transforming Pune?s road network. He emphasised that the focus will be on quality construction and timely completion to minimise inconvenience to the public.
