Himachal Pradesh chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has approved financial assistance of Rs 1.374 billion (Rs 1.374 bn) for widening and strengthening the Chail Chowk-Janjehli road in Mandi district. He made the announcement while meeting delegations from the Seraj assembly constituency and reiterated the state government's commitment to balanced and equitable development across regions. The delegations were led by the president of the Seraj Congress Block, Jagdish Reddy, and they held detailed discussions on development issues and invited the chief minister to visit the constituency. He said that the package also included funds for maintenance and improvement of several local roads in the constituency. The assistance covers Rs one million (Rs 1 mn) for the Nauna-Chhalaila-Vinidhar road, Rs two million (Rs 2 mn) for the Balichowki-Khloa-Sharsh road, and Rs one million (Rs 1 mn) each for the Nauna-Bharari, Khanethi-Khoohan and Hanogi-Shaloi-Chhamar roads. The allocations are intended to address immediate repair needs and to restore connectivity for remote communities. In view of extensive damage caused by recent disasters, the state government prioritised the 83 kilometre road project and submitted it under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund for approval. Officials said completion of the project would provide momentum to the social and economic development of the region by improving access to markets, healthcare and education. The focus on this corridor reflects a broader effort to strengthen resilience of infrastructure against future calamities. Sukhu personally visited affected areas to assess the damage and directed that maximum possible assistance be extended to disaster-affected families, according to official accounts. The administration has enhanced disaster relief assistance using its own resources, a step described as unprecedented at state level. Implementation plans will be finalised with local authorities and monitoring arrangements put in place to ensure timely execution.
