Sunjay J Kapur appointed as chairman of ACMA

Sunjay J Kapur, Chairman of SONA Comstar, has been appointed as the chairman of the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA).

Shradha Suri Marwah, CMD of Subros, has been appointed as the industry body's vice-president.

As the industry transitions to the next generation of mobility, the times ahead are both challenging and exciting. With a greater focus on localisation and indigenous technology development, it is critical for ACMA to drive change throughout the entire component manufacturing ecosystem and assist members in remaining relevant.

India's apex body for the automotive component industry is the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA). Its 850 members account for more than 85% of the auto component industry's organised sector turnover.

The ACMA's mission is to develop a globally competitive Indian auto component industry, as well as strengthen its role in national economic development and promote business through international alliances.

The auto component industry is a large, integrated, and complex network of suppliers that spans the country's various geographies. It now accounts for 2.3% of the country's national GDP, 25% of national manufacturing GDP, and employs more than five million people.

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) dominate the industry, which is one of the key drivers of India's economic growth and the Make in India programme.
